Obituary of Virgil Scott Slack
Virgil Scott Slack, 61, a Kalamazoo native, died on Friday April 10, 2020. He passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice with his beloved wife Rosalie by his side after battling lung cancer. He was born December 22, 1958 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of John and Evelyn Slack.
Virgil married the love of his life Rosalie Gale on September 10, 1982. They had two beautiful girls, Jennifer and Amanda. He retired from Burroughs Corporation after 37 years of service. There he served as Union President for many years. In his spare time he often enjoyed vacationing with his family. He appreciated a well-maintained yard and was no stranger to all the hard work that came along with it. During football season he was sure to be found watching the Detroit Lions. Virgil’s other interests included music, golf, classic cars, and karaoke.
Virgil is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Tony Smith of Kalamazoo, MI.; daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Patrick Thompson of Paw Paw, MI.; grandchildren Jeyvona, Tyvohn, Hayden, Bryson, Brent and Eliza; sister Joyce Schmidt of Hudson, FL; sister Jackie Boyce of Portage, MI; sister Sheryl Kirkpatrick of Kalamazoo, MI; and brother Randy Slack of Hudson, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents Evelyn and John; brother Mike; and sister Jean.
