Molly Ruth (Tinsley) Coombs, 78, daughter of Rev. Benjamin William Tinsley, Sr. and Evelyn Ault Tinsley, died peacefully surrounded by family on March 13, 2020, following a long illness. Molly was born in Pikeville, Kentucky, on May 26, 1941. She graduated from high school in West Lafayette, Indiana. In 1963, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Purdue University.
She married Leslie H. Coombs and embarked on a life and love story that would extend over fifty-six years. Together they raised four children, David (Melissa), Jean (Dale), Joseph (Andrea), and John (Rebecca), and have enriched the lives of hundreds of friends and loved ones.
Molly’s strong and independent spirit was guided by a deep and fervent faith. She loved to sing and dance and had a smile and laugh that would brighten any room and warm everyone’s heart. Her broad creative passions expanded throughout her life, including painting, pottery, gardening, crocheting, cooking, custom clothing, and playing numerous musical instruments including the piano, organ, autoharp, and mountain dulcimer.
Molly was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brothers, Peter, Ben, and John. She is survived by her husband, Les, her four children, and five beloved, amazing grandchildren, Ian, Nathaniel, Rachel, Jacob, and Connor.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and no memorial is planned. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice if you wish.
