Larry Clark

Obituary of Larry David Clark

Larry David Clark was born March 6, 1951, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the late Almas (Amos) Lee Clark and Viola Godfrey Clark.  He was the youngest of twelve children from this union.  Larry was educated through the Kalamazoo Public School System and graduated from the old Kalamazoo Central High School in 1969. Larry was brought up in a Christian home supported by his parents and grandparents.  He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Larry had a big personality, a positive outlook on life and an amazing sense of humor that draw people to him.  He loved to laugh, and his laughter was contagious.  Larry was a charmer which is why the field of entertainment was natural for him.  Music was his inspiration; all genres of music were his favorite.  Larry had a love for the drums and singing and hence played in two bands; the Touch and Burning Bush Bands. Larry was a loving and devoted father of six children:  Kevin, Latonya, Korey, Kafi, Quincy, and Brandi.  He adored his children and the love of family and friends was important to him. He freely embraced and welcomed anyone he encountered and as a result, he was Dad, Poppa, and Grandpa to many.  He enjoyed cooking, playing ping pong and baking apple pies for family and friends.  Larry was famous for his macaroni & cheese and candied yams. Larry retired from Kalamazoo Public School System after 25 years of service in 1998. On February 28, 2020, Larry departed this earthly realm and embraced his heavenly home, where several loved ones await who preceded him in death such as paternal grandparents Moses and Lurena Clark, maternal grandparents Sam and Mary Godfrey; his parents Almos (Amos) Lee and Viola Godfrey Clark; three brothers:  Almas Lee Jr, VW Clark, and  Roosevelt James Clark; five sisters:  Doretha, Ester Ross, Betty (Floyd) Gardner, Barbara Clark, and Mildred (Karate Joe) Armstrong; and one grandson Dashaun Pratt-Palm. Larry David Clark leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory: his children Kevin David Clark, Latonya Palm, Korey Devon Clark (Mishanta), Kafi Marshall (Bud Marshall), Quincy Hughes and Brandi Hughes.  Siblings: Charles Clark Sr., Delroy Clark, and Jerry (Special sister-in-law Judy) Clark. Eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  Sharing in his memory will also be a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Also, a special friend Debra Peterson also Calvin Carver “LC”. He was a unique, one of a kind, Father, brother, uncle, and friend. He can never be replaced in our hearts. May God have heard all of our prayers for you Larry, and see all of our tears for you, and answer us eternally by reuniting us in Christ in that great celebration day in Heaven. Amen.
