Obituary of Karen Lynn Wofford-Beznoska

Karen Lynn Wofford-Beznoska February 7, 1967 - January 9, 2020 Karen lost her battle with cancer and was called home to be with our Lord at Rose Arbor with her loving husband by her side Thursday afternoon. Karen was born February 7, 1967, at Lemoor Naval Air Station in Fresno, California. Karen attended may schools growing up as she traveled with her military family. Karen worked at Meijer Stores in Kalamazoo before her illness forced her to resign. She loved her job very much and had many friends, customers and coworkers who cared and admired her. Karen had many jobs across the country before she finally settled in Kalamazoo, though her favorite jobs were being an at home mom and a ballroom dance instructor. She enjoyed long walks and picnics with her husband and loved to go camping. She often spoke of many weekend fishing trips to her favorite spot in Yosemite National Park and dreamed to one day return to visit. Her proudest accomplishment in life was being a mother and longed to return to Texas to see her family. Karen loved her church very much where she was baptized and married to Jeremy Jay Beznoska on June 22, 2014. Although they had no children together, Karen loved her step children very much and treated them as her own. Karen's favorite things were hiking and camping, puzzles, gardening, shopping, cooking and making crafts. She often bragged about her favorite vacation to Minnesota where she visited Walnut Grove, Nellie's Diner, the Ingalls-Wilder Museum and went wading in Plum Creek with her daughter's chihuahua, Nikki. She also loved watching her favorite television program "That 70's Show". Karen was a beautiful and loving wife and especially loved cooking with her husband and for church potlucks. She selflessly gave where she could and her biggest regret was being unable to attend church near the end. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she fought unimaginably hard to make it through these last holidays even when she was too sick to enjoy the dinners and parties. Her decision to terminate treatment was especially difficult and she spent five weeks recovering from her last chemotherapy infusion at Rose Arbor Hospice where he made many friends with staff and patients. During her stay, even though she was gravely ill, she crafted many holiday wreaths and gave them as gifts to other dying patients. She recovered and left telling her friends that she would return. Karen fought to keep her strength up to make it through Christmas and succeeded, rarely complaining even when in pain. She passed peacefully with her eyes lifted toward heaven. She is survived in death by her mother, Dorothy Warner; her father, Joseph Warner; her brother, Joe Warner; and her daughter, Samantha Wofford-all of Granbury, Texas; and her husband, Jeremy Beznoska of Kalamazoo. She also leaves behind many more loving family members and friends. Though her time on earth was unexpectedly cut short, she touched many lives. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things have passed away." Rev. 21:4. Karen's deep faith in Jesus Christ carried her throughout her tough journey home. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25th, at 2:00 pm at Discovery Church, 2772 Roosevelt Ave., Parchment, Michigan. She will be interned at Mount Ever Rest Memorial Park South in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Contributions can be made to Discovery Church to assist the family with final expenses. The family wishes to deeply thank all the staff at Rose Arbor for their compassionate support and care for Karen and Jeremy during the last few days of her life.
