Obituary of Addie Mae Holloway

On Saturday, November 30, 2019 Addie Mae (Carter) Holloway made her transition from this earthly life to be with the Lord, at Allegiance Hospice Care in Jackson, MI.  

Addie was born on May 15, 1942 in Roanoke, AL to the late Philip and Addie Lee (Copeland) Carter. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. Addie married Ocie Holloway Sr. on December 5, 1959 in Lafayette, AL and to this union 7 children were born. She moved from Alabama to Albion, MI in 1963 and later joined and attended Bethel Baptist Church until failing health.

Addie was employed as a healthcare aid by the state of Michigan for some time, but enjoyed her #1 position as a homemaker, loving and caring diligently for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild Chakell who lost her mother and grandmother early on in life. She was a gifted piano player who frequently shared and enjoyed playing for family and friends. Addie really cherished her relationship with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Addie leaves to cherish her love and memories, the love of her life for 60 years her loving husband Ocie Holloway Sr., 1 son Ocie Holloway Jr. of Lima, OH; 2 daughters Brenda Holloway and Phyllis Baker of Albion, MI; and 1 great-grandchild(raised) Chakell Welch of  Albion, MI; 13 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. 2 sisters, Leola Jacobs of Atlanta, GA and Lucy Davis of Chattanooga, TN. Special nephew & niece Calvin & Michelle Brewer Jr., special nephew Stefon McConnell, special son Jeremy Williams, god-sister Mida Mhoon, god-daughter Kim Swinton, close friends Mary Bonner, Sybil Sanders, Helen Tate all of Albion, MI; and Jerry Morgan of Lima, OH. A host of brother/sister in-laws, nephews, nieces and cousins. 

She is preceded in death by 3 sons Mackel, Ocie Leon, and Aric Holloway. 1 daughter, Priscilla Holloway, 1 granddaughter, Tekisha Holloway, 2 brothers, Thomas Carter and Charlie Carter, 5 sisters, Geneva Carter, Anna Allen, Mary Combs, Rose E. Vines, Catherine Harris.
