Obituary of Richard Dean Stein, Sr.
Richard Dean Stein, Sr. Mr. Richard Dean Stein, Sr. of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away December 2, 2019, at the Glenn Arbor Hospice of Battle Creek, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Stein, Sr. worked at Albion Mallable and A.C. Foundry as an ironworker for over 20 years. He loved to play bingo and listen to music. He was a part of a singing group known as the 5 Aces in Battle Creek, Michigan.He served proudly in the U.S. Military as a Private First Class in the army and traveled extensively throughout the world including Germany. He was born on April 19, 1941, in Butler County, Alabama. His father and mother were Amos Stein and Annie Pearl (Nolan) Stein who preceded him in death. He had three brothers who also preceded him in death, Willie Ray Nolan, Willie George Crenshaw, and Joffie Lee Stein. He has two surviving sisters, Ms. Carrie N. Evans and Ms. Janet “Bean” I. Stein, both of Battle Creek. Extended family members include Huey “Butch” Sweet and Joyce Sweet of Lansing, Michigan, and Janice and James Fairley of Jackson, Michigan. Mr. Richard Stein, Sr. was joined in marriage to Joan Lafayette and to this union five children were born: Brenda Stallworth of Nashville, TN, Richard Dean Stein, Jr. of Michigan, his twin brother Roger Dean Stein of New York, Reverend William Stein of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Tracy Stein of Battle Creek, Michigan. Mr. Stein, Sr. had another son, Stevie Wilder of Lansing, Michigan and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a stepson, Santos Burton of Battle Creek, Michigan. He also has a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Richard later married Beula Ann Burton of Battle Creek, Michigan who also preceded him in death. He will always be remembered as the loving father and Big Brother of the Stein Family and will be missed for the joy he brought his family. A graveside service will be held later at the Fort Custer National Cemetery of Augusta, Michigan where Richard Stein, Sr. will be buried with military honors.
