Obituary of Caroline Ruth Lesniak

Caroline R. Lesniak was born July 3, 1926 in Gary, Indiana to her parents, Elizabeth and John Blaschke.  Caroline was the sixth child of nine, with six girls and three boys. Caroline attended Saint Mark’s Catholic Grade School and Lew Wallace High School, graduating in 1944.  

She met her husband, Stanley Lesniak, in 1946 at a Shield  lub event and they were married in 1947 at Saint Mark’s Catholic Church.  Stan and Caroline lived in an apartment in downtown Gary where their first daughter Linda and second daughter Karen were born.  In 1952 they moved to their first house in the Glen Park section of Gary. There, their son Jim was born and later, their daughters Liz and Annie.  In 1974, with their three oldest children gone from home, Stan and CAroline, Liz and Annie moved south (25 miles) to their new home in DeMotte, Indiana.

In 2012, Stan and Caroline sold this home and moved to a retirement community in Crown Point, Indiana.  After Stan’s death in 2015, Caroline decided to fling caution to the wind and resettle to Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She moved into the Heritage Community in December of 2016, where she lived until her death on October 6, 2019.
