Obituary of Lonnell Bell
Lonnell Bell departed this life on September 10, 2019, surrounded by his loving sister and brother-in-law, nieces and nephew. He was born December 18, 1963, to the proud parents of Fred Bell, Jr. and Willie Beatrice Bell (Boyd) in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He joined Peters Rock Baptist Church at a young age and was baptized by Rev. Frank Barnes. Lonnell loved to sing, he thought he was Luther Vandross. Lonnell moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan with his sick mother and daughter to be near his sister Sandra Hester who took care of him until he was too ill and needed nursing home care.
Lonnell is survived by one son Darnell Bell of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two daughters: Jannell Bell of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Lynnell Bullock of Benton Harbor, Michigan; one granddaughter Aniya Williams of Kalamazoo, Michigan; step-daughter Yolanda (Nikki) Williams of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two step-sons: Montell Hobbs of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Leemond Hobbs of Kalamazoo, Michigan; two brothers: Michael Bell of Lake Worth, Florida, and Melvin Johnson of Charleston, South Carolina; two sisters: Myra Bell of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Sandra Hester of Kalamazoo, Michigan; brother-in-law Garry Hester of Kalamazoo, Michigan that was there for all of Lonnell needs; two aunts, he loved dearly and called all the time: Lillie Means and Lena Hampton both of Benton Harbor, Michigan. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lonnell is preceded in death by his mother Willie Boyd, his father Fred Bell, Jr., step-father Frazz Boyd; a sister Joyce Carter, grandmother Maybell Souels, five aunts: Emma Gains, Hazel Darden, Josephine Taylor, Rosie Souels, and Laura Wilson; three uncles: Edward, Will, and Charlie Souels.
