Obituary of Robert Henry Jones

Robert “JJ” Jones, Jr. 82, of Battle Creek, Michigan, joined his heavenly Father on August 18, 2016. He was born in Marianna, Arkansas to Robert and Roena Jones, on August 28, 1933. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and attended Kellogg Community College with a major in Business Manage-ment. He honorably served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne and received many awards and acco-lades. He was married to Savannah Jones, the love of his life on July 10, 1958 in Battle Creek, MI. He worked as a supervisor for Kellogg Company for 26 years and retired in 1992. He enjoyed bowling in several leagues throughout the city. Known to be kind, generous and a gentle spirit man. He was driven to mentor young men in the “Big Brother Program” for over 20 years. He loved to worship at Faith Assembly Christian Fellowship Church where he was actively involved with the New Level Sports program; supporting, encouraging and imparting words of wisdom to youth throughout the city. Robert was preceded in death by (wife) Savannah Jones, (parents) Robert and Roena Jones, (sister) Bernice Harris (Evans), (brothers) Scipio Jones and Johnny Jones. His extraordinary legacy is carried on by his son Marcus Jones of Phoenix, AZ; step-children Nathaniel Willis (Eliza); Barbara Boyd (Silon); Francine Fullerton (Morris); Kenneth Willis (Charlene); Robert Willis. Sisters, Doris Dozier of Livonia, MI; Villa Mae Thomas of Battle Creek, MI; Oretha Beckett (Leroy) of Philadelphia, PA. Percy Jones (Barbara) Columbia, SC and Roosevelt Jones (Judy) of Battle Creek, MI. He was also survived by his grand-children, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
