I met Janet in 2012 at Spring Valley apartments, where I was the Lunchroom coordinator for Senior Services. We had many good conversations when she found out that my husband RJ and I knew her brother Leonard.

Janet (Luteyn) Blesch passed away July 17, 2019. She was born June 22, 1944 in Kalamazoo, MI. She was the daughter of the late Abraham and Wilma (Howard) Luteyn.
Janet attended cosmetology school after graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1962. She married Robert Blesch in 1964, where they lived in Kalamazoo until 1966. They moved to Sturgis, MI, where Janet was a practicing beautician. Later, in 1976, the family moved to Delton, MI, where they owned and operated Bowen’s Family Restaurant. She attended all of her children’s sporting events and was an enthusiastic Sports Mom.
Robert and Janet subsequently divorced in 1984, at which point Janet began working for Denso Manufacturing in Battle Creek, MI, from which she retired.
Janet is survived by her siblings, Ronald Luteyn (Carol) of Leesburg, FL; Leonard Luteyn (Kelly) of Kalamazoo, MI; James Hamilton (Betty) of Kalamazoo, MI; Marlene Hamilton of Kalamazoo, MI; Ronald Hamilton (Molly) of Kalamazoo, MI; Joyce King of Portage, MI; Beverly Clay of Portage, MI; and Shirley Ruster (Ron) of Kalamazoo, MI.
She is also survived by her children: Debra Weiser (Bud) of Avon Park, FL; Douglas Blesch of Hickory Corners, MI; Joseph Blesch of Haymarket, VA; and Richard Blesch (Susan) of Richland, MI.
Janet was the proud grandma to 5 grandchildren: Joe, Jack, Matt, Drew and Penelope. One of her favorite pastimes was cheering on the grandkids at sporting events.
Janet also enjoyed her outings with her very special friend and partner in crime, Al Hudziak.
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, July 30th at 11:30am at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park, 3941 S Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49008. I was stunned and saddened to hear of Mrs. Blesch’s passing (she will always be Mrs.!Blesch to me). My fondest memories of her are when she, Mrs. Finn, and my mother would sit together at our basketball games (middle school, high school, and even Gus Macker tournaments). She is a nice lady and raised a great family. Our condolences to the Blesch family.

I was saddened to hear of Janet's passing. I had the pleasure of working for her as a home health aid through Homecare Transitions. I always enjoyed our conversations. She was so proud of her grandchildren and their endeavors. Her owl collection was absolutely amazing! I looked forward to walking Buddy and will miss doing that. She was a dear sweet lady and I was blessed to have known her. I pray that God surrounds her family with His comfort and peace.
