Obituary of Joel Allen Hernandez

Joel Allen Hernandez,  "Joey, Crack" age 25 of Kalamazoo, Mi., passed away on June 12th, 2019 in Kalamazoo, Mi.

Joel was born to Joel V and Jeannie Hernandez on July 30th 1993, the baby of the family, the last to complete us. He was raised in the Oakwood area with a close group of friends. He enjoyed riding bikes, playing at the playground, and playing video games with his siblings and friends. Later he moved to the Edison area where he remained until his passing. He worked as a cook and also in the family painting business with his father and brothers. Joel battled his addiction for over four years, unfortunately he wasn't able to conquer his demons. 

Joel is survived by his parents, Joel V and Jeannie Hernandez, his brothers, Michael Sutton Jr, Anthony Flores(Casey Norris), and Justin Hernandez(Jessica), his sisters, Jessica Brundage(Jaymz), Elizabeth Hernandez(Justin Drob), and Nina Perez(Gabriel), numerous neices, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, his girlfriend Stephanie Richmond, grandmother Mary Smith, grandfather Gene Smith, Uncle Marcus Smith, and numerous childhood friends, Marc, Nic, Matt, Chris, David, Levi, and Tyler and Thyme.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 22nd at 1pm at the Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church at 931 Maple Street Kalamazoo, MI., with the Pastor Gary Goodsell officiating. There will be a luncheon following the service. Burial will be held privately at a later date. Whitley Memorial Funeral Home has been helping with the funeral arrangements.
