Obituary of Garfield Eugene Fullerton
Garfield Eugene Fullerton, affectionately known to his family and friends as Eugene or Full Time, departed this life on Monday June 10, 2019 at The Laurels of Bedford in Battle Creek Michigan. Eugene was born May 27, 1956 to Jurel and Lueella Fullerton in Battle Creek Michigan. When Eugene was a boy, his family moved to the Kalamazoo area. He attended Kalamazoo Public Schools and graduated from Kalamazoo Central.
Eugene was a loving person inside and out. After graduation, he married his childhood sweetheart Jacqueline (Buford) Fullerton. He has 5 children, and would brag about their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. He loved spending time with family. His favorite thing was cooking and eating. Eugene took great pride in cooking for his family, and keeping his secret recipes from them.
Eugene was a sports fanatic. Although he loved all sports, he really enjoyed playing, coaching, refereeing and watching basketball. He had a very magnetic personality, and he touched the lives of many.
Eugene was preceeded in death by his parents Jurel Lee Fullerton Sr. and Lueella Buchanan, oldest daughter Tawana Henderson, his brothers Jurel Lee Fullerton Jr., Clifford Carl Fullerton, and Gerald Lee Fullerton, great-granddaughter Ty’Onna Henderson, and close friend Edward “E.P” Grays.
Left to cherish Eugene’s memory, is his son Deondra Liggion, three daughters, Shanica Miller, Shonnika (James) Fullerton, & Leatrice (Tyrone) Fullerton, his brother Robert Lee Fullerton, sisters Mary Lee Fullerton and Lisa Fullerton of Battle Creek Michigan, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, special nieces Tamika Weekley and Kurtisha Henderson, his former wife and long-time friend Jacqueline Fullerton, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
