Obituary of Mary Jo Orman
Mary Jo Orman passed away on April 27, 2019 after a very brief illness surrounded by family at Rose Arbor Hospice.
The oldest of nine children, Jo was born on May 23, 1930 to Herschel and Lela Myers. Her cheery disposition and incredible wit made her beloved by all who were lucky enough to meet her.
Jo is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Bill Orman; her daughter, Joan Orman and her husband Eric Bekker, and granddaughter, Bailee Orman. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Orman, in 2007. Mary Jo is also survived by two sisters, Esther Jane Faurote and Carolyn Hinote and one brother, John (Judy) Myers. She was preceded in death by her siblings Jerry Myers, Bill Myers, Wayne Myers, Glen Myers and Velma Crane.
Jo and Bill spent nearly 30 fun and engaging years traveling in their motorhome making friends from all over the U.S. She enjoyed a good game of bridge up until her death and made the best German Chocolate Cake in the world.
The family would like to thank the wonderful medical team at Bronson Methodist Hospital, the exceptionally kind and caring staff at Rose Arbor Hospice, and the loving crew at Heritage Community where Jo and Bill enjoyed the past year in independent living at Wyndham Apartments.
As a huge animal lover, we ask that contributions in Jo's memory be made to the animal rescue organization of your choice or directed to Heritage Community of Kalamazoo Foundation in support of the Memory Care Learning Center, 2400 Portage St, Kalamazoo MI 49001. There will be no formal services, but we suggest that you remember Mary Jo by sharing a hearty laugh with a friend and petting a tail wagging dog if there is one nearby.
