Obituary of Carolyn Ruth Gambill
Carolyn Ruth Gambill, 80, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2018 while at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Carolyn was born June 9, 1937 in Flint, Michigan to Lloyd and Edna (Davies) Gambill and was the younger sibling to her sister, Joanie Vaughn. She grew up in Saginaw, Michigan where she graduated from Arthur Hill High School before attending Michigan State University where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, graduating in 1959. Many Michigan cities have been home for Carolyn from Saginaw, Lansing, Mason, Grayling, Custer, Fountain, Ludington and Schoolcraft to Fort Pierce in Florida. While most of the time she was a house/farm wife raising her three children Doug, Brad and Amy, she was also a lab technician in the earlier and later years. Carolyn spent her time enjoying the outdoors, being a 4-H leader/den mother, singing with Sweet Adelines, working on the family farm, spending time with the grandkids around Lake Michigan in Ludington, working on mission trips to Haiti, cheering on the MSU Spartans and Detroit Tigers, and spending time with her church families. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and son, Brad MacLean, and survived by her children, Doug MacLean and Amy (Mike) Beebe and their father/former husband David MacLean, grandkids Katie Bunch, Bret Beebe, Eric (Ty) Beebe, Jackie (Kyle Bigelow) Beebe, Andy Beebe, great grandchildren, sister Joanie Somerfield Vaughn, nieces and nephew. A memorial service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be planned at a later date.
