Obituary of Doris Marie Joyce

Doris S. Joyce of Plainwell, age 94, went to be with her Lord on February 24, 2018, surrounded by her family, at her daughter and granddaughter’s home where Doris lived.

Doris was born December 15, 1923 in Birmingham, AL, the daughter of William and Lena Stone.  Doris worked at the First Baptist Church in Brooksville, FL; moved to North Carolina where she worked at Belk Store Services in Charlotte, NC until she retired and moved to Michigan. Doris had a beautiful smile and her laugh was contagious.  She loved being with family and friends, traveling, and the outdoors.  She was known as “granny” by everyone, young and old.

Doris is survived by her children, Jack (Wendy) Joyce and Peggy Joyce Eastman; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Joyce; two brothers, William Stone and Jim Stone; two sisters, Edna Vann and Willie Mae Campbell; son-in law, Don Eastman.

Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church in Middleville on Friday, March 23 from 10:00 – 11:00; memorial service at 11:00.  Luncheon will follow service.
