Obituary of Daniel Deanda
Daniel Deanda, age 79 of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice on Thursday, December 28, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer with his family by his side.
Daniel was born on August 20, 1938 in Sinton, Texas, to the late Paulino and Refugia Deanda. Daniel spent his life in Kalamazoo and was employed over his long working career by the railroad, Peter Eckrich, Brundage Roofing, and Wenke Greenhouse. Daniel loved landscape work and maintained properties for several Kalamazoo area residents.
Daniel is survived by his children Dawn Vincent, Robin (Mark) Montgomery, Patsy (Steve) Czitterberg, Delfa (Steve) Hoag, Danielle (Richard) Ivy, Daniel Atkinson, David Atkinson, and Michael Todd Williams, as well as 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and his godson Dylan, who held a special place in his heart. Daniel is further survived by his siblings Joe Deanda, Carol Alvarez, and Pat Deanda. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Hazel Deanda, and siblings Pete Deanda, Teburcio Deanda, Paulino Deanda, David Deanda, Delia Saurez, Delfha Deanda, Angie Olivares, and Chris Deanda.
Daniel will be greatly missed by his family and many lifelong friends. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday January 4, 2018, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Whitley Funeral Home, 330 N. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, followed by a reception at 6:00 PM at the Sugar Bowl, 904 Washington, Ave, Kalamazoo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rose Arbor Hospice, 5473 Croyden Ave., Kalamazoo, MI.
