Obituary of Herbert Leanard Crenshaw
Herbert Leanard Crenshaw II entered his heavenly home on
December 18, 2017. Leanard was born on July 8, 1982, the son of
Herbert Crenshaw Sr. and Darlene Crenshaw-Goodwin. Leanard
graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 2000, where
he was an outstanding football player. After graduating High
School, Leanard entered the workforce, where he explored many
careers, such as a security guard, a middle school coach, and an
entrepreneur, where he created the brand “Diamondz”. Leanard
was also generous with his time, not only did he mentor young
men, but he was a volunteer coach for the Northside Rocket
Football League and the MYWAY Wrestling Program.
During his time as a coach he was responsible for taking Hillside
Middle School’s wrestling team to the all-city championship. He
was also on the coaching staff of Hillside Middle School football
team which went undefeated for several years. Leanard believed
his biggest accomplishment was coaching his son to a MYWAY
State wrestling championship. Leanard was very passionate
about his dancing, where he would challenge his cousins to a
pop-locking contest. He also enjoyed fishing, graphic arts and
playing games with the family. Leanard was baptized at a young
age by Rev. Asa Dawson at Galilee Baptist Church. He was
preceded in death by his father Herbert Crenshaw Sr.,
Grandparents, Horace and Rosie Crenshaw and Grandfather,
Othello Goodwin Sr.
Leanard leaves to cherish his memories his Mother, Darlene
Goodwin, one son, Jaylnn Crenshaw both of Kalamazoo, Mi. One
brother Raymond Crenshaw of Mobile Ala. A Grandmother, Reva
Goodwin of Kalamazoo, Mi. Five aunts and three uncles; Juanita
Goodwin of Kalamazoo, MI. Martha Crenshaw and Eleanor
Crenshaw of Mobile Ala. Ruby Christian of St. Louis, MO. and
Maxine Parker of Detroit MI. S.L. Sales of Denton, TX, Vance
(April) Goodwin and Rutherford Goodwin all of Kalamazoo.
Special cousins Marcus Sales and Me’Shale Hinton. Special
friends, Charles Brown, Lydel Lipsey, Tre Calbert and Will Griffin.
A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
