Obituary of Shaloam Rozella Marie Polk

Ms. Shaloam Rozella Marie Polk peacefully departed this life on Saturday, November 4, 2017.  She was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on Monday, April 28, 1980, to her parents of Ocie Marie Polk and Peter Dixon.  

Shaloam attended and graduated from Lakeview High School. She continued her education at Kellogg Community College where she pursued a degree in Liberal Arts (General Education).  Shaloam worked for EPI for several years.   

Shaloam was a loving and giving person; she was always there to help people when they're down. She was a person who would help lift your spirits.  Shaloam had the heart for children, and she was blessed to have five beautiful children come into her life: Cerina, Eervantay, Tai’Veon, Jamariaz, and Jamel’la Polk. Shaloam loved being around her friends, but she truly enjoyed spending time and taking care of her family; they were her life.  She also enjoyed shopping, watching movies, playing video games, listening to R&B and soul music, going for nature walks, and traveling.  

Shaloam faced many hard trails in her life, but she never gave up. Shaloam’s life took her on a difficult journey;  the journey where she began her battle with Multiple Sclerosis.  Even though Shaloam had a short fight with MS., she fought a good fight and finished her course.  

Shaloam leaves to cherish her memory, her siblings: Frederick David Lee Polk of Grand Rapids, MI., Micah Christopher Polk, Monica Dixon both of Battle Creek, MI., Brenda Polk-Tungate.  Her children: Cerina, Eervantay, Tai’Veon, Jamariaz, and Jamel’la Polk; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a community of close friends.

Shaloam is preceded in death by her parents Ocie M. Polk and Peter Dixon, grandparents: Bernice Douglas, Rozella Polk, Leo Polk, Betty Hall and Elize Radford Although Shaloam has departed from this life, she will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
