Obituary of Kathryn Ann Corss

Kathryn Ann (Biluk) Corss, was born March 27th, 1944, and passed away on October 17, 2017.  She left this world peacefully in her sleep. She is proceeded in death by her mother Esther Margaret Biluk (Stewart) and her father Frank James Biluk. Kathryn attended Cassopolis Public Schools and lived in Cassopolis during her childhood years and the better part of her adult life. In 1974 – 1976, she worked at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan as a talented EEG technologist. Kathy was one of the best in her field. She was sent out of state many times for high profile cases. She then attended Southwestern Michigan College and received her associate degree and then went on to graduate from St. Mary’s College with her Masters in English and History. She then was a freshmen English teacher at the University of Notre Dame. Later in life, she worked as a grant writer receiving funding for a number of agencies including Van Cass Cap, for Cass and Van Buren Counties. Kathryn taught as a substitute teacher for many years for K-12. She also was an employment counselor with Michigan Works. Kathryn was a philanthropist, belonging to DAR, NAACP, League of Women Voters, Cass County Historical Society and serving on the draft board for several years.

She leaves behind her three daughters, Lisa Nezamis (Aaron), Rebecca Barker (Jarrod), and Ann Howard (Aaron). She has eleven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She treasured the time she spent with her family, telling stories of her history, keeping everyone aware of family genealogy. She was a brilliant writer of poems and plays, also an astounding artist, leaving behind many paintings and drawings in her memory. She had a strong faith base and an open understanding of spiritualism. She raised three daughters with an “everything on the table” attitude. This has been extremely appreciated. She had an amazing ability to reach out to people she sensed needed guidance most. There were many quirky qualities she was well known for by her family. Her sense of humor was not lost among her close friends and family. Her wisdom and wit will be missed by all that knew her and loved her.
