Obituary of Lisa Ann Lee-Thomas

Lisa Ann Lee-Thomas, 56 of Mattawan, MI made her transition from labor to reward on October 28, 2021. Lisa was born on October 4, 1965 to Anderson and Shirley Lee in Niles, Michigan. Lisa graduated from High School in 1983 from Ross Betty High School and received her Bachelors of Science in Education, and a minor in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Pan Handle State University in Goodwill, Oklahoma Following graduation, she worked at Cassopolis Public Schools for 25 years as a Gym teacher, Basketball, Softball, and Track Coach. She was passionate about working with her students and always strived for them to be their best. On July 23, 1988, she was joined in holy matrimony to Tony F.G. Thomas and from this beautiful union came three children, Shirley Thomas-Abbey, Tony F.G. Thomas II, and Seth E.F. Thomas. She was also blessed with two grandchildren, Skylar Abbey (Pooter) and Jamal (Chunk) Abbey II. Everyone who knows her, know her grandchildren were her heart. They were often with her daily and she enjoyed spending time with them. Lisa retired in 2015 from Cassopolis Public Schools. While retired, Lisa was able to pursue her love of woodworking, camping, bonfires, and sports. She loved working with her hands and made many beautiful pieces of furniture and other decorative items. Lisa responded to the call of the Lord and received the Holy Ghost in 1988 at Greater First Deliverance Temple under the auspices of Bishop Vanual C. Little Sr. Lisa served as a Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer at Christ Temple Church in Cassopolis under the direction of Bishop Derrick Mckinney and Suffragan Bishop Harold Scott. On January 30, 2000, Lisa became the First Lady at Christ Apostolic Church in Three Rivers, Michigan where she served under her husband, Tony Thomas. From April 1, 2000 to February 1, 2010, she served as First Lady of Christ Temple Church in Cassopolis, Michigan and on February 1, 2010 to the present, she served as First Lady at Christ Temple Church in Kalamazoo and Springfield, Michigan. Lisa loved people and had a heart for helping the disadvantaged in the community. For 33 years Tony and Lisa shared the joy of salvation and love, navigating through the better, overcoming the worse, celebrating through sickness, enjoying the health, laughing at poor, and living out the riches. 33 years of a well spent life, living for God. She was preceded in death by her parents Anderson and Shirley Lee. As her journey on earth comes to an end. She leaves to celebrate her life and continue theirs; her loving husband, Tony F. G Thomas, her three children, Shirley A.T (Jamal) Abbey, Tony F.G. Thomas II, and Seth E.F. Thomas. Her two grandchildren, Skylar (Pooter) Abbey, and Jamal (Chunk) Abbey II. Her Brother, Anderson Lee Jr. III, her Uncle, Larry (Cathy) Ash, her Aunts; Betty Ash, Charlene Lee, Jane (Leddrew) Smith, Freddie Lee Renfro, and Donna Syas, her Mother in Law, Frances Bowman, her Father in Law, Allen (Sonja) Thomas, her very special cousins, Shirley Lee and Theresa Gilliam and a host of Brothers in Law, Sisters in Law, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends, and Family.
