Obituary of Valerie Maria Dumas
Our angel, Valerie Maria Dumas took flight from this life on June 23, 2021. She was born in Kalamazoo, MI on December 20, 1972 to Edward Scurry and Kathryn Dumas. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and received her degree in Early Childhood Education from Kaplan University. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was a teenager at Christian Life Center.
Valerie always had a love for children. She was a childcare provider for 36 years starting when she was 12 years old. She was a licensed childcare provider for 30 years, helping to raise and mold many children into the people they are today. She was affectionately referred to as T.T. Val by many children and their families.
T.T. Val loved her family and was always the one to get everyone together for birthdays, holidays, and other events. She freely gave love and kindness to everyone and was always available to listen and give good sound advice!
Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, maternal great-grandparents, and a very special aunt Carolyn (Cole) LeFlore. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her one and only daughter, Ciera Robinson, who is currently pregnant with her first child. Valerie planned the extravagant gender reveal party and was so excited about the upcoming arrival of her first granddaughter. She also leaves three siblings, James Dumas and Taneka (Julius) Dumas of Kalamazoo and Nakengee (Larry) King of Atlanta, GA; one niece and four nephews, Montina, Terrell, and Montine (Jr.) Wiley, Aaron(III) and Kareme Hubbard all of Kalamazoo; three uncles, Jimmie (Eugenia) Cole, Emmett (Dana) Cole, and Robert (Felicia) Cole all of Kalamazoo; and a host of aunts, uncles and other family members. She also leaves behind two very special aunts, T.T. Felicia and T.T. Ruth and two very special friends Jennifer and Vicky, whom she loved and adored.
Valerie will be truly missed by all but she will be remembered forever.
