Obituary of McGraw Woodford
McGraw Woodford Jr. was born April 23, 1928 in Detroit MI to McGraw and Ruby (Fuller) Woodford. He attended Detroit Public Schools and at the age of 18, he joined the U.S. Army in May of 1946.
In the military he became a heavy armed truck driver. His responsibilities included making repairs on his truck and transporting materials and equipment. While in the Army, McGraw took advantage of this opportunity to increase his skillset by learning to use the many types of hand tools at his disposal.
After receiving an honorable discharge, he was employed by the Ford Motor Company. Later McGraw was employed by Darrin Armstrong Construction. He was a smart man who attended various trade schools. McGraw passed his talent and acquired knowledge to his one and only child by taking him on repairs.
McGraw moved to Idlewild, Michigan where he became a Forest Ranger. He enjoyed helping other with major and minor home renovations and repairs. McGraw was a kindhearted person who made friends everywhere he went. He was loved by many and his grandchildren was dear to his heart.
McGraw leaves to cherish his memory: his son McGraw (Tracie) Woodford lll from Battle Creek. MI, 5 grandchildren; McGraw (Tiffany) Woodford IV, Alissa Woodford, Reyya Woodford, Naujua Woodford and Cinnamon Woodford all from Detroit, MI, 5 great-grandchildren; Makayla Woodford, McGraw Woodford V, Adien Woodford, Naujua Woodford ll and Elania Woodford; his sister Orion Hughes of Detroit, MI and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
McGraw was preceded in death by his first wife Cora Woodford, his second wife Aseelah (Hilda) Muhammed, two sisters Lilian Fields and Louise Brown and his longtime companion Devalera Thrasher
